About

So, what is Deep in the Bible? Deep in the Bible is a weekly video and audio podcast for those who want a guided, in-depth study of God’s Word. This podcast exists because we believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and contains His truth revealed to the world. In each episode, we will do a systematic examination of a section of scripture seeking to find God’s truth as He intended for us to receive it.

Deep in the Bible?

We believe that digging Deep in the Bible is of utmost importance. In 2 Timothy 3, at the end of Paul’s life, he instructs his “true child in the faith” Timothy with these words concerning God’s Word:

2 Timothy 3:14–17 (ESV) But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

In our studies together, we will go Deep in the Bible to find the truth that can make us “wise for salvation” and to be “equipped for every good work.”

Going Deep in the Bible is something that is missing from many people’s lives, and even from many of our churches. It can be intimidating but the Bible was written to be understood. You don’t have to be a PhD or an ordained minister to dig deep into God’s Word. All it takes is an open mind, a willingness to work hard, and the discipline to make this a lifetime habit. If you commit to these things, I promise…you will be blessed by a deep study of the Bible.

If this interests you, join us each week as we go Deep in the Bible together!

In his own words…

So, who am I? My name is Timothy Agee, and I have been involved in preaching and teaching the Word of God for almost 30 years. During most of that time, my full-time job was in the corporate world, but I became a full-time minister in the summer of 2021.

I do not possess a degree in theology, but I do have a passion for going Deep in the Bible to understand His will for my life. There have been many individuals over the years who have helped in building my passion for going Deep in the Bible, but none have had more influence than my mentor Dr. Marlin Connelly. As a matter of fact, without Dr. Connelly’s influence, I doubt I would have ever considered preaching or teaching. Dr. Connelly was one of my Bible professors in college and was also the preacher at the church I joined during those years. He knew more about the Bible than anyone I had ever met, and his ability to teach scripture blew me away.

When I was a senior in college, one of the Elder’s at our church asked me to preach on a “College Night”. At first, I was mortified, because I had very little experience with public speaking, and NO experience as a preacher. I finally agreed, but hoped that Dr. Connelly would not be there, because I couldn’t imagine trying to deliver a sermon in front of him. I diligently prepared my sermon from 1 Samuel 1 on the prayer of Hannah and practiced it over and over again in front of my mirror. When the evening came, my heart sank when I saw that not only was Dr. Connelly in attendance, but he was sitting on the front row.

When I got up to speak, my hands were shaking so bad I had to hold the lectern with a death grip to keep everyone else from seeing how nervous I was. I got through the sermon, and so many church members were gracious and encouraging, but Dr. Connelly was nowhere to be found. When I finally started to leave, he was waiting for me at the back door and said two things: (1) That was excellent, and (2) I’m going to turn you into a preacher.

Even though I was about to graduate with a degree in Computer Information Systems, he indeed got to work on turning me into a preacher almost immediately. This included working with me one-on-one, sending me to many different churches to preach, and even having me fill in for him in his classes and sermons. His mentoring built a passion for preaching, teaching, and deep bible study that I carry with me to this day. My hope and prayer is that I can help in building this passion within others the way he did in me.

On a more personal note, I live in Nashville, TN with my wife Olivia. We will be celebrating our 28th anniversary in September of 2025. Olivia works part-time in a special needs school, and is also involved in many areas of ministry, especially as a sign-language interpreter. We have two amazing daughters, Kate and Sara, who are 20 and 15 as of March 2025. They are both gifted musicians, and Sara actually composed the theme music for this podcast.

Outside of ministry, I am a professional photographer. Photography is another passion of mine. I also love to run and have completed 18 full marathons and 19 half marathons (number 19 was with my daughter Sara in 2024). I love listening to music and attending concerts. I’ve attended hundreds of concerts over the years and have over 800 vinyl records in my collection. Finally, I LOVE to travel. I’ve been to some amazing places over the years including two trips to the Holy Lands of Israel, one of those times as a group leader. I was able to go on the first trip with my dad, which was incredibly special, and then on the second trip I was able to share the experience with Olivia and our daughters. Those two trips have greatly enhanced my ability to understand the geographical and architectural context of scripture, and I hope to be able to lead more groups to Israel again in the future.
